OAG NOMINATES VIRGIN NIGERIA “BEST AIRLINE BASED IN AFRICA”

Lagos Nigeria, 30th May 2008: Virgin Nigeria has been nominated in the 2008 category of “Best airline based in Africa” by the Official Airline Guide (OAG) awards.

OAG is the world's authority on flight information which annually celebrates the very best in global air travel, publicly recognizing their high standards within the industry through an awards ceremony.

Virgin Nigeria is nominated in the Best Airline based in Africa category alongside Ethiopian Airlines, Egyptair, Kenya Airways and South African Airways which are much older African airlines. This nomination is a very exciting one for the airline, seeing as the nomination comes only after three years of its operation.

Chief Executive Officer of the airline, Mr. Conrad Clifford noted that the nomination of Virgin Nigeria attests to the global practices Virgin Nigeria employs in its service delivery which has so far distinguished the airline in Africa.

Clifford said: “We are elated at the recognition given the fact that we are the only Nigerian airline recognised for this unrivalled global award”.

After three years of operation, Virgin Nigeria currently operates from its hub in Lagos to 16 destinations; 2 internationally, 4 regionally and 10 domestic destinations

The winner of the awards will emerge on June 4 when the event holds in London which is done through polls from OAG’s worldwide customer base of business travelers.
